Weeley Festival Faces T-Rex Poster 1971

Very much a product of its time, the Weeley Festival (nr. Clacton), took place in Aug 1971. Like many similar events, the organisation was haphazard & hence this original poster doesn't list the bands performing (these line-ups often came together at the last minute). This time though, an array of talent did actually perform including The Faces, T-Rex, Quo, Mott, Pink Fairies, Rory Gallagher etc (Bolan didn't go down too well & told hecklers to "F*** Off").

The poster design (By Dave Arnott) is a typically trippy affair featuring some stoned goblin/hobbit types. This poster was printed in several different colour combinations but always with the same graphics. Other retrospective Weeley posters were subsequently created but this is the original from '71.

The poster has obvious signs of wear/tear with a number of conservation tape repairs to the reverse. The poster has also been folded & has general creasing. Nonetheless, this is a rare poster & a great memento of a classic British 70's festival. A small collection of original newspaper clippings about the festival will be included in the sale.
